Young people are an important part of the Sorbian community and play an active role in shaping its future. Domowina’s youth work supports young people and young adults in getting involved, developing their own ideas and experiencing the Sorbian language and culture in a wide variety of ways.
Youth Work
Domowina works to secure the future of the Sorbian community in Lower and Upper Lusatia by connecting key stakeholders and raising the visibility of the community’s interests and concerns. It serves as a central point of contact for policymakers, educational institutions and wider society. Its aim is to create a reliable foundation for sustainable educational pathways.
Domowina encourages exchange and connections between young Sorbs and supports projects, events and initiatives by and for young people. Its youth work covers not only language and culture, but also community involvement, social engagement, education and issues that matter to young people.
Domowina’s Youth Officer is the main point of contact for young people, youth groups and associations. She provides guidance and support for their activities, helps establish contacts and assists in turning ideas into projects. She is also there to listen to the concerns and challenges young people may face and to work with them to find solutions.
