Who we are

The Domowina – Federation of Lusatian Sorbs has been the voice of the Sorbs in Lusatia since 1912, committed to the language, culture and rights of the Sorbian people. As an umbrella organisation, we bring together individuals, associations and regions for a diverse and open Lusatia within a united Europe.

Domowina – Zwězk Łužyskich Serbow | Zwjazk Łužyskich Serbow | Federation of Lusatian Sorbs – is the umbrella organisation of the Sorbs in Lusatia. As the umbrella body, we have represented the interests of the Sorbian people since 1912. Within Domowina, around 200 groups and local associations, regional chapters and supra-regional clubs are active, with roughly 7,600 members (as of 2025).

We are the Sorbian voice from the municipal to the European level. We represent the interests of Sorbs in Saxony and Brandenburg. Lusatia is our home. We’re committed to an open, outward-looking region whose multilingualism and cultural diversity are a truly distinctive strength. The cultural and economic development of Lusatia is especially important to us.

We work to strengthen minority protection in Europe. We feel closely connected with the many small peoples, autochthonous minorities and nationalities across Europe, and we are committed to a diverse Europe.

Our headquarters are in the Serbski dom | House of the Sorbs at Postplatz in Budyšin | Bautzen, with another site in the Serbski dom Chóśebuz | Wendish House, Cottbus.

Domowina’s highest decision-making body is the Main Assembly, convened every two years; ongoing work is overseen by the Federal Executive Board, prepared by a Presidium. The Main Office is responsible for implementing resolutions and supporting the associations.

Strong regional roots matter to us, and we maintain offices in Chrósćicy | Crostwitz, Dešno | Dissen, Wojerecy | Hoyerswerda, Přiwćicy | Preititz, Radwor | Radibor, Slepo | Schleife and Delni Wujězd | Uhyst.
