Ziel des im Jahr 1956 gegründeten Hauses für sorbische Volkskunst in Bautzen (mit den Gebieten Musik, Tanz, Kunstwort und bildende Volkskunst) war die Dokumentation, Förderung und Weiterentwicklung des sorbischen Laienwirkens. Am Beispiel des Wettbewerbs um das schönste sorbische Osterei, eröffnet im Jahr 1952, wird anhand von Archivalien und Fotos gezeigt, wie sich aus dem Familienbrauch eine bis heute eine erfolgreiche Tradition entwickelte.
