Alle zwei Jahre wird die Lausitz zum Treffpunkt von Tanz, Musik und Traditionen aus aller Welt. Beim Internationalen Folklorefestival ŁUŽICA - ŁUŽYCA - LAUSITZ begegnen sich sorbische Ensembles und internationale Kulturgruppen, um gemeinsam Vielfalt, Freundschaft und gelebtes Brauchtum zu feiern.
Das Festival ist Teil des weltweiten Netzwerks der CIOFF®-Festivals (Conseil International des Organisations de Festivals de Folklore et d’Arts Traditionnels), das unter der Schirmherrschaft der UNESCO steht und sich der Bewahrung immateriellen Kulturerbes verschrieben hat.
Seit seiner Gründung verbindet das Festival Menschen über Grenzen hinweg: Mitreißende Bühnenprogramme, Umzüge sowie spontane Begegnungen auf den Höfen und in den Straßen schaffen eine einmalige Atmosphäre aus Herzlichkeit und Weltoffenheit.
Das Festival findet im Wechsel an verschiedenen Orten der Lausitz statt – in Budyšin | Bautzen, Hochoza | Drachhausen und Chrósćicy | Crostwitz – und wird von Hunderten Ehrenamtlichen, Vereinen und Partnern getragen.
