The Bogumił Šwjela Prize is awarded to pupils of the Lower Sorbian Grammar School in Cottbus and to pupils of grammar schools in Lower Lusatia for work in the fields of Sorbian language, literature, sociology, pedagogy/didactics, history, art, journalism or Sorbian cultural studies.

Bogumił Šwjela (Gotthold Schwele) is regarded as one of the most important scholars in Sorbian folklore studies and language cultivation. His wide-ranging work made a decisive contribution to the identity and documentation of Sorbian culture.

Statutes of the Bogumił Šwjela Prize
§ 1
Die „Maćica Serbska“ verleiht alle zwei Jahre den Bogumił-Šwjela-Preis. Ausgezeichnet werden Schülerinnen und Schüler des Niedersorbischen Gymnasiums in Cottbus sowie weiterer Niederlausitzer Gymnasien für eine Facharbeit auf dem Gebiet der sorbischen (wendischen) Sprache und Literatur, Geschichte, Kulturforschung oder Kunst.
§ 2
Das Preisgeld beträgt 150 Euro. Wenn die Arbeit § 1 der Satzung entspricht und in sorbischer (wendischer) Sprache verfasst ist, erhöht sich der Preis auf 250 Euro. Er darf nur ausgeschrieben werden, wenn die Dotation gesichert ist.
§ 3
Der Preis wird vom Vorstand der „Maćica Serbska“ öffentlich ausgeschrieben.
§ 4
Pśedsedarstwo Maćice Serbskeje póstajijo wuběrk za pósuźowanje zapódanych źěłow, wobstojecy z cłonka pśedsedarstwa a dalšneju fachnikowu. Wobradowanja wuběrka a lisćina zapódanych źěłow su dowěrliwe. Wuběrk pódajo pśedsedarstwoju swójo naraźenje za pósćenje myta, kótarež jo zakład za rozsud pśedsedarstwa. Wuběrk móžo pórucyś wózjawjenje mytowanego źěła w serbskich medijach. Gaž njejsu se zapódali źěła w trěbnej kwaliśe, se myto w tom lěśe njepósćijo.
§ 5
Źěła maju se w pisnej formje zapódaś. Směju to teke źěła byś, kótarež su nastali za šulske zaměry. Wóni muse měś minimalnu dłujkosć 6 bokow połterasmužkowego teksta w 12 pt. Ilustracije su ako pśidank móžne. Źěłoju ma se pśipołožyś list, w kótaremž stoj mě awtora/awtorki, adresa, narodny źeń, šulski lětnik, titel zapódanego źěła a wobkšuśenje, až jo wóno swójske wuźěło, kótarež njezranijo awtorske pšawo. Na źěle samem njesmějo mě awtora/awtorki napisane byś, aby se gódnośiło bźeze znaśa wósoby.
§ 6
Pśedsedarstwo Maćice Serbskeje pósćijo myto a informěrujo lawreata/lawreatku. Myto pśepódajo se na głownej zgromaźinje Maćice Serbskeje abo na wósebnem zarědowanju. Na pšosbu pśedsedarstwa pśedstajijo lawreat/lawreatka swójo źěło na głownej zgromaźinje.
§ 7
Pśeśiwo rozsudam wuběrka a pśedsedarstwa myta dla njejo pšawniska droga móžna.
§ 8
Změna wustawkow a jich wótpóranje lažy w zagronitosći pśedsedarstwa Maćice Serbskeje.
