Sorbian Media Package for Municipal Libraries in Lower Lusatia
Maćica Serbska assumed responsibility for the project “Sorbian Media Package” for 16 municipal and district libraries in the Sorbian settlement area in Brandenburg. The project was funded by the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Culture. Its aim was to promote the Sorbian language and to improve access to new literature about the Sorbs as well as to Sorbian literature itself.
On Friday, 17 December 2021, the first media package was presented in Senftenberg in the presence of State Secretary Tobias Dünow. The Chair of Maćica Serbska, Dr Anja Pohontsch, and the Chair of the Lower Sorbian section, Dr Peter Schurmann, were also in attendance.
Further presentations followed in January 2022, during which Sorbian media packages were handed over to libraries in the presence of mayors or district administrators, as well as representatives of Maćica Serbska.
