Literature, Art and International Affairs Section

The members of the section are dedicated to Sorbian literature and art. They see their task in critically engaging with and promoting Sorbian artistic processes. This work is supported through public events such as lectures, book readings, visits to museums and artists’ studios, excursions, and more.

One of the highlights of the section’s activities was the international conference “Ludvík Kuba – Folklorist, Writer and Painter”, held from 25 to 27 April 2003 at the House of the Sorbs and the Sorbian Museum in Bautzen. The conference brought together 21 speakers from eight countries, and its results were published in a collected volume.

In 2010, members of the section visited the exhibition “Poster! The GDR Era in the Poster Collection of the Sorbian Museum” and critically examined current developments in Sorbian artistic poster design. Planned activities include a discussion of three animated films by the Sorbian artist Maja Nagel and a visit to the exhibition “Meissen Porcelain and the Previously Unknown 25 Figures in National and Regional Costume from 1900” at the Sorbian Museum in Bautzen.
