Sorbian Easter Egg Market, 28 Feb – 1 Mar 2026 in Bautzen
The Society for Promoting the Sorbian National Culture holds its traditional Sorbian Easter Egg Market ten days after Ash Wednesday, or five weeks before Easter, on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Serbski dom | House of the Sorbs, Postplatz 2, 02625 Budyšin | Bautzen.
Sorbian and German folk artists from Upper and Lower Lusatia gladly accept this invitation to demonstrate the art of egg decoration at the market.
You can experience it up close – as the beautiful Sorbian tradition of decorating Easter eggs in Lusatia continues to be practised with imagination and skill to this day.
You can try it yourself – decorating eggs with a quill and candle wax under professional guidance.
You have the choice – when purchasing genuine Sorbian Easter eggs from the market participants, you can search for the egg that meets your personal expectations.
You will find information – about the history and culture of the Sorbs at the Sorbian Cultural Information Centre, in the video room and at the stand of Smoler’s Bookshop.
We recommend our brochure “Sorbische Ostereier” – about the association and the folk artists.
What else awaits you? A selection of Sorbian ceramics, embroidery and glass painting featuring special items from Lusatia – all presented in enchanting floral decorations.
