Sorbian Traditional Costume

This traditional clothing is not only a symbol of Sorbian identity, but also a living testament to regional history and craftsmanship. Sorbian/Wendish traditional costume varies according to occasion and region and is distinguished by an impressive diversity of patterns, colours and embroidery.

Particularly well known is the festive costume with its magnificent lapa (headdress), which is crafted by hand with great care and skill. It is worn at numerous events, such as weddings, harvest festivals, Zapust processions and the International Folklore Festival in Hochoza | Drachhausen.
