The Association of Sorbian Students is an unregistered association and the umbrella organisation of Sorbian students. The association is primarily based on four pillars:
“Sorabija Lipsk” (Leipzig)
“Bjarnat Krawc” (Dresden)
the editorial board of “Šeršeń”
the Sorbian Student Choir
In the past, it has occasionally occurred that students in other cities temporarily formed their own groups due to a higher number of Sorbian students, such as Młody Serb in Görlitz. The Association of Sorbian Students maintains close ties with such initiatives.
Anyone who is a member and actively involved in one of these associations is also considered a member of the umbrella organisation. Owing to the high turnover within the student community, no binding membership lists are maintained. The association understands itself as an open information platform, as well as a coordinator and representative body for Sorbian students.
At the heart of the association is the executive board, which consists of at least one representative from each of the four pillars mentioned above (and, where applicable, additional representatives), the student representative on the Federal Executive Board of Domowina – Bund Lausitzer Sorben, and further members.
